The Municipality of Omaruru is the local authority responsible for governance, infrastructure development, and service delivery in the town of Omaruru, Erongo Region, Namibia. Established under the Local Authorities Act (Act No. 23 of 1992), the Municipality is committed to providing quality services that improve the quality of life for all residents and visitors.
On the 22nd of July 1909, Omaruru was officially designated as the first municipality in Namibia — a historic milestone that reflects the town’s enduring role as a centre of governance, commerce, and community life. Today the Municipality serves approximately 16,000 residents across all extensions of the town.
