About Omaruru Municipality

Omaruru is governed by the Omaruru Municipality, responsible
for local governance, infrastructure development, and service
delivery under the Local Authorities Act (Act No. 23 of 1992).

On the 22nd of July 1909, Omaruru was officially designated
as the first municipality in Namibia — a milestone that
reflects the town’s enduring role as a centre of governance,
commerce, and community.
